Web application firewall

Web application firewall is used for HTTP applications. It consists of a set of rules that are applicable in the case of HTTP conversations. These rules are a powerful way to protect the application from attacks such as cross site scripting, security misconfiguration and SQL injection for causing harm. Thus we can say that web application firewall is used for the filtration, monitoring and blocking HTTP traffic that is directed towards and from a web application.

The difference between a web application firewall and a normal firewall is that it helps in the filtration of content that is meant for a particular web application while the normal firewall acts as a safety point between different servers.

We provide our clients with the services related to web application firewall which is very useful to monitor the traffic, to find out various patterns and to find any abnormalities. It is usually applied in front of web applications that will help to detect any threat to it and will eventually block the malicious content. They can be deployed in three ways which are reverse proxy method, transparent reverse proxy and transparent bridge method. Web application firewalls work on rule based logical commands, parsing methods and signatures that helps in detecting and preventing the damage.

It can be software or a hardware that is used for preventing any sort of vulnerability that can occur to the web applications and thus protecting them eventually. There may be certain shortcomings in the coding of the web application that are overcome by the usage of web application firewall.
